WTF

WHAAAAAAAAAT?

I just saw her today. I was visiting campus to check out the gym to see if it was big enough for the roller derby to rent it out for stuff. (haha. i forgot how small the gym was.)

anyhow, is this an ill timed April Fool's Joke or what? did I miss something?

no, she's there through the end of the summer, then it's over.
she's very open with talking about it, apparently.

i'm not going to be back on campus anytime soon. is there anything more you can say about it? this is very sad :/

uh, i wasn't very clear there. i meant, is there anything else you're allowed to post in the community about it?

you guys seem to be having it pretty rough there these days. you all have my sympathy. i went back through the archives and read how they banned the monologues this year too!

just wondering, do they still have the "improved" visitation policies? i.e. no overnight guests ever? that was the final straw for me. i didn't need my school treating me like a child. i got the hell out of the dorms when that happened. it is soo weird that they always seem to be going backwards instead of progressing, despite their new university status. I am struggling to understand this....that school has all the potential in the world and they seem to keep making poor choices that hinder any possible improvements. it will continue to be a 'suitcase school' until they sort themselves out.

The overnight policy was, at first, pre-set weekends when you were allowed to have overnight guests. Then it changed to you could pick whatever two weekends you wanted to have people over.

Now it's 4 weekends
stellar_purrstellar_purr on June 17th, 2006 03:04 pm (UTC)
what year were you when they did the overnight thing?
do you remember that huge meeting in the campus assembly room where half of the school showed up??

There's not really anything that I can think of to say right now about things. I think in some ways, it's improved but in others? Yeah.

that policy changed between my junior and senior year. so i already had 2 years of being used to the old policy, and wasn't about to stick around and lose privileges. i don't recall that meeting, but i'm sure it didn't achieve much. they're pretty bound and determined to treat the people in the dorms like children. i liked almost every aspect of that school except for living there.

the main reason i disagreed with the overnight policy is that it didn't seem to keep anybody safer. in fact, i noticed more people leaving campus to go stay at off campus apartments/wherever, bussing around at night, etc. all the while, that bottom door was locked. so you had to go up all the flights of steps just to get back home. what if someone was chasing you? it's Oakland. you can't pretend you're in podunksville, usa.

but what happened to Sister Ellie? Who fires a Sister? geez.

they're still doing really dumb stuff. it seems as if it's getting worse instead of better...this summer they are implementing a new smoking policy- which leaves anyone in Aquinas (us humanities majors who have EVERY class in Aquinas) to go all the way inbetween Curran and FWH to smoke (or somewhere else far away).

Wow. I am so glad I'm not there anymore. I am so glad I have a real job. WTF? Carlow = Nazi. But then again, it doesn't surprise me, being that the new Pope used to be a member of Hitler's Youth.

what i enjoyed was the email sent out that tried to make it sound like she wanted to leave and it was a decision all her own. carlow is great.
